Introduction
Aloha, have you ever wanted to be a fashionista in Graphic design? Here, I will show you how to design your Hawaiian T-shirt in Adobe Illustrator and lets bring summer in here. Every guy you know will be sure to want one and of course you can adapt this project for ladies too.
Materials
- Adobe Illustrator
- Picture of a T-shirt jpg
- Design (turtle)
Creative Process
Firts of all, we need to think about colour and design of out t-shirt. I wanted to make something related to the ocean and came up with light-blue colour and an animal Turtle. I created this project for Digital Media.

Workflow
Firstly, lets open our image by clicking on File and then click New.
It will open a new window where you can create any document, but we need Letter (8.5 in x 11 in) and click Create.
Now, right now we see a blank page and now we have to place our image T-shirt jpg. Click on the File and Place. Find T-shirt image on your Desktop and Open.
Holding the left click move down and regulate the picture as a perfect size of a t-shirt
On top click Window and find Layer. So, now you will see a small window and create new layer which will help us to design the project. On the 1 laeyer it's going to be an image on the second design. Don't forget to click on the 2 Layer.
The fun part are just coming, here you can see I started my designing. Don't worry, I will tell everything. Let's zoom in, choose a colour you want and then choose Pen Tool. Let's start drawing on your t-shirt the collar, the top and bootoms in parts. Also, I add stroke, you can find in in Window section.
This is how it looks like when colloring all the elements.
Okay. Now, I need to make a design pattern. Let's open a new Letter size and draw any design or find image. Next, I selected my design, clicked on Object - Pattern - Make - Save a Copy - Create a name for it - Done and wow I see many turtles. On a Pattern object I I changed Tile tapes and  Brick offset. And I have my pattern on Swatches.
Now, on the first one I selected all my t-shirt Copied and Pasted on my second Letter where my design is.
The same process with coloring, but here is just the pattern.
Here, I made my buttons with eclipse tool.
The last one is the tag name which I made with pen tool and text tool.
Final Process
Conclusion
Final destination! This is how it looks like on the illustrator. Looks a bit different from my original work. Before, I was thinking about flowers, to make it more colourful.
